We have Medicare, and yes, it is not perfect but at least the elderly have
coverage. Congress must fund Medicare or they will lose their jobs. The problem
is that the Medicare System has become a bureaucratic mess. We need a better
computer system of management and accounting (that also means fraud control.)
Who do you call? Oracle? Yes, a company with the best systems available. Larry,
please fix my software so that every Medicare worker can know what they are
talking about and solve issues for the patients and doctors in a timely manner.
Once it is put into place, finding fraud, overcharges, and inconsistent charges
for the same procedures, drugs and treatments from doctors, pharmacies and
hospitals will be easy.
Next, we need to address the poor, children and illegal immigrants (see
immigration). We need a basic - yes basic healthcare plan for these groups.
These groups are going to use the hospital anyway so why not control use and
monitor these costs? We, the taxpayers are the ones paying for it, so organize
it. Call it “Medipoor”. Larry can copy the same system from Medicaid software.
Oh, you see my logic? Track costs across the two systems. NICE job Larry!
Who will pay for the system and individual care? First we set up a
scholarship program for med students. After residency they will work free for ˝
day in clinics or hospitals for 5 years .Who pays the balance of costs? We: the
taxpayers. We were paying it no matter what. When poor people go to the
hospital, who pays? You do in the form of higher medical expenses and your
employer pays higher premiums. There is no free lunch.
There are three more problems: health insurance costs, malpractice insurance
costs and pharmaceutical costs.
Hello Larry, are you there? Ok it does not have to be Oracle. Maybe EDS. Yes,
Ross’s company wanted to fix the post office system a decade or so back. Oh,
that s right! Nobody listened. What an inflation rate on stamps! Don’t worry, in
10 more years, the post office will not exist. It will just be UPS, FedEx and
email.
Ok, what can Larry do for Health Insurance – systems software
standardization! Yes, all insurance companies will use one standard form.
Doctors will love it, hospital administration departments can be downsized and
medical costs, inventory and patient management can be carefully monitored. If
heart surgery in CA is $200,000 and the same operation is $50,000 in Kansas (and
it is not an emergency situation, but elective) – well, $150,000 buys several
night stays at a Ritz Carlton in Kansas City. Get my point!
As for Big Pharmaceuticals and Malpractice Insurance, we will look for other
Funnel Ideas team member to add on to this.
